MONTENAPOLEONE: THE NEW RANGE OF WRITING INSTRUMENTS BEARING GIORGIO ARMANI’S SIGNATURE
Style as handwriting, handwriting as style. Giorgio Armani unveils his new collection of MONTENAPOLEONE pens: a fountain pen, a ball point, a rollerball and a propelling pencil presented either in vibrant tones of red and white, or sophisticated shades of petrol green and black. Each instrument in the collection emerges from a rod of pure resin, hand turned according to a technique that combines precision engineering with traditional craftsmanship. The various stages of this production process are all critical to ensuring the impeccable quality of the end result. The barrel is then hand polished to achieve a brilliant surface and magnificent tactile feel. To attain such exceptional smoothness, diamond paste is used initially before the final polish is imparted by hand. The same commitment to sheer excellence and craftsmanship is evident in the production of the metal components, all of which are turned on a lathe and then given an electroplating finish: gold for the green and black pens, chrome for the versions in red or white resin. The elegant ogee arch of the clip involves three separate actions: the outline shape of the metal is cut with shears, then folded and minted to guarantee strength and flexibility. For immediate recognition, the clip and the ring on the barrel both bear the lasered signature of Giorgio Armani. Each instrument can be bought as an individual item. The Montenapoleone range will be on sale from the end of November in Giorgio Armani boutiques, specialist pen shops, jewellers, department stores and superior stationers. |
