Giorgio Armani is pleased to announce that he has designed the costume for famed bullfighter and testimonial Cayetano Rivera Ordonez, on the occasion of the ‘Corrida Goyesca’, taking place on September 6th, 2008 in Ronda, Spain.
The ‘Corrida Goyesca’ is a unique and historical bullfight, taking place once a year in Ronda, in the South of Spain, inside the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain. Ronda is a charming small town close to Malaga and Sevilla, and is renowned for its historical and cultural heritage: Orson Welles’ ashes are buried here, and Ernest Hemingway wrote many of his novels here as well, such as ‘Fiesta’.
Cayetano Rivera Ordonez will wear a specially designed bullfighting costume, the so-called ‘Goyesco’, more precious than ever.
Cayetano’s suit of lights in the Goyaesque style, comprises a jacket, trousers and cloack in techno satin in a shade of Armani greige. The three pieces are embroidered with sequins, small glitter stones and thread, all matching the colour of the background fabric.
Years ago, also painter Pablo Picasso designed the same costume for Cayetano’s father.
Giorgio Armani’s collaboration with Cayetano Rivera Ordonez is well-documented. After having featured Cayetano in an exclusive advertising campaign for Giorgio Armani Hand Made –to-Measure, which first appeared in Spring 2007, Giorgio Armani also dressed him on several occasions, including fashion shows, events and the most recent Villa Necchi Garden Party, which took place during Spring/Summer 2009 Men’s Fashion Week.
