03.08.2007 CHELSEA F.C. ENLIST GIORGIO ARMANI TO DESIGN NEW OFF-FIELD WARDROBE Chelsea F.C. has enlisted Giorgio Armani to design both its new official club off-field wardrobe and a new look for its Directors’ Suite with Armani/CasaGiorgio Armani has been commissioned by Chelsea Football Club to create a new loon for its Directors’ Suite at is fabled Stamford Bridge ground in West London. To be called the “Armani Lounge” this dining room and lounge area serves as the principal meeting place for the Chelsea Board of Directors and for the entertainment of VIP guests. In total the “Armani Lounge” covers 200 square metres divided into two adjoining sections: the “Directors’ Bar” and the “Directors’ Dining Suite”, for which Giorgio Armani has personally designed a unique concept featuring furnishings from his Armani/Casa home interiors collection. In order to deliver an ultra-sophisticated appearance matched by a corresponding degree of comfort, the treatment of the interior has been based on meticulous attention to detail in material, finish, colour and most especially lighting. The result is an impressive environment with the walls throughout in a mirrored bronze colour or alternatively clad in bronze metal effect laminates and a reed effect greige textile with marble flooring, warm diffused lighting from ceiling spotlights and table lamps from the Armani/Casa collection. Certain items of furniture from Armani/Casa have been tailor made specially for the lounge in accordance with the concept of “made to measure” design – including unique pieces like the iridescent lacquer tables, and the side tables clad in stunning bronze colour “liquid metal” laminate. Sofas and armchairs are covered in an exclusive Armani/Casa fabric, featuring graphic 3D diamonds in a shade of champagne. Both areas, the Bar and the Dining Suite, are provided with wall mounted plasma screens to show the games live. The colour spectrum throughout opts for tones of beige, champagne, bronze and tobacco: the archetypal neutrals and naturals that define Giorgio Armani’s timeless sense of style to perfection. Giorgio Armani said: “It has been an honour to create a new environment for the Directors’ Suite at one of England’s most historic football clubs. Today the ambience in which we live, work and enjoy ourselves has become as important as the clothes we wear. I hope that the new “Armani Lounge” will suitably reflect on the elegance with which its iconic team play the great sport of football on the field below.” The Armani Lounge for Chelsea signifies Armani/Casa’s entry into the top flight of the luxury contract sector, providing a definitive showcase for the commitment to sophistication, elegance and comfort brought by Giorgio Armani to the world of interior design.
